Privacy Policy

The short version

• We collect what you type into the estimate form, and nothing else about you personally.
• The site sets no cookies. The one exception is the map on our home page and service areas page, which is served by Google and covered in our Cookie Policy.
• We never sell your information and never pass it to advertisers.
• We do not add you to a mailing list. We answer your request, and that is the end of it.
• Email or call us and we will show you what we have, fix it, or delete it.

What we collect and why

Your estimate request

When you send the form on our contact page we receive your name, your phone number, and, if you choose to fill them in, your email address, your city, the service you are interested in and whatever you write about the project. Only the name and the phone number are required, because without them we cannot call you back. We use these details to get back to you, arrange a site visit and prepare your quote. We do not use them for marketing and we do not use them to advertise to you anywhere else.

We also record the fact that you ticked the consent box, and when. That record exists so that both of us can see what you agreed to, and it is stored with your request.

The form measures how long it was open before you pressed send, and it contains a hidden field that real visitors never see. Both exist only to filter out spam robots and tell us nothing about you.

Your IP address, in hashed form

To stop one person from flooding the form, our server counts how many requests arrive from the same internet connection within ten minutes. It does this with a one way hash, SHA-256 with a secret key, of your IP address, so the stored value cannot be turned back into your address. The hash is stored separately from your request, and the counter clears itself. We do not store the plain IP address.

Site measurement, without cookies

To see which pages people read and how fast the site loads, our own pages send a small report to our database: the page address, the domain of the site that linked you here if there was one, whether you are on a phone, tablet or desktop, and a few speed measurements. The report carries a random session number that your browser keeps only until you close the tab. It is not a cookie and it is not linked to your name, phone, email or IP address. We use no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels and no social media tracking.

Hosting logs

Like every website, ours runs on servers that keep standard technical logs: the page requested, the time, your IP address and browser type. Our hosting provider keeps these for security and troubleshooting.

What we never ask for

There is no account to create on this site, no payment page and no upload. We never ask you here for a date of birth, a social security number, a driver license number, bank or card details, or anything about your household beyond the room you want floored. If a page ever appears to be asking you for any of that in our name, it is not us. Call us on (916) 425-1361 and tell us.

Who handles your information

We do not share personal information with anyone except the companies that run parts of this website for us. They process it only to provide their service to us and may not use it for their own purposes.

• Supabase stores our database, including estimate requests and the site measurements described above.
• Resend delivers each estimate request to our inbox as an email. If you gave us an email address, it is set as the reply address so that our answer goes straight to you.
• Vercel hosts the website, runs the code that receives the form, and keeps the hosting logs described above.
• Google Maps provides the map of the Sacramento area on our home page and service areas page. It loads only when it comes into view, and loading it reaches google.com, maps.googleapis.com and maps.gstatic.com. Those requests carry your IP address and the address of the page you are on. Whether Google uses that to build a picture of you across other websites is governed by the Google privacy policy, not ours. We receive nothing from it. Our pages also link to our Instagram, Facebook and Google profiles and offer a WhatsApp link for messaging us. Following any of these takes you off our site and onto theirs, under their own privacy terms. If you message us on WhatsApp, that conversation lives on WhatsApp, under the terms you accepted with them.

No sale, no advertising

We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising, and we have never done either. Apart from the Google map, no outside party collects information about your activity on this site, and we do not allow anyone to track you over time and across other websites.

California's Shine the Light law lets a customer ask a business whether it shared personal information with third parties for their direct marketing. We have not, and we do not, so there is nothing to disclose. Ask anyway if you like, and we will say so in writing.

How long we keep it

• Estimate requests are kept while we answer you, and then as a business record, for example to prepare a quote or refer back to a job we completed. If you ask us to delete yours, we remove it from our database and from our inbox.
• The spam counter holds a hashed IP address for a short window and then deletes itself.
• Site measurements contain no personal information and are kept as statistics.

Your rights and how to use them

You can ask us at any time to:

• tell you what information we hold about you,
• correct something that is wrong,
• delete your request entirely,
• stop contacting you.

We may ask you to confirm you are the person who sent the request, for example by writing from the same email address or calling from the same phone number. There is no charge, and we will not treat you any differently for asking.

Essential Flooring Inc is a small local business and does not meet the size thresholds that bring a company under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA. We honor the requests above regardless.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, the page view and speed measurement described above does not run at all. Because we do not sell or share personal information and do not track visitors across other websites, there is nothing further for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off.

Children

This site is for homeowners and property managers and is not directed to anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us a request, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the new version is posted on this page with a new effective date at the top. We do not keep visitor accounts or a mailing list, so this page is the only place changes are announced. Please check it whenever you send us a request.
